Portable Appliance Testing
Also Known as PAT Testing
Pat testing (as it is generally known) is a process of establishing whether a piece of electrical equipment is Safe & suitable for its intended purpose.
All portable appliances are tested in accordance with the I.E.E code of practice for in-service Electrical Equipment.
The following points are considered:
• Full visual inspection • Correct fuse sizes
• Correct terminations • Continuity
• Insulation resistance
The term portable appliance covers several equipment types:
• Kettles • I.T Equipment
• Handheld Tools • IEC Leads
• Class 2 Equipment
A full report similar to an asset register will be produced detailing all testing and defects.
